WAYNE Rooney believes new Plymouth Argyle striker Muhamed Tijani will be 'a real handful' for opposition defenders in the Championship.
The powerful 6ft 3in Nigerian forward has joined on a season-long loan from Czech First League club Sparta Prague, with the Pilgrims having an option to make it a permanent transfer next summer. Tijani showed early promise as he netted twice in the 5-1 pre-season win away to Cheltenham Town on Saturday.
His performance was very much that of a traditional centre-forward as he often received the ball with his back to goal, held it up and then linked with his teammates as they moved into attacking positions.
Tijani's style of play is very different to Ryan Hardie, who has been such a good goalscorer for Argyle over the last four-plus years and specialises in utilising his speed to run in behind defences.
Argyle head coach Wayne Rooney clearly knows a thing or two about being a striker after his outstanding playing career and he is looking forward to developing 23-year-old Tijani into even more of an attacking threat.
