Tom's trunks help to raise money for swim safety
The Herald|August 31, 2024
PLYMOUTH'S Olympic gold medallist diver, Tom Daley, has auctioned off a one-of-a-kind pair of swimming trunks that he hand-crocheted himself - raising £10,000 for charity.

Fresh out of securing the silver medal in the men's synchronised 10-metre dive at the 2024 Olympics in Paris - his fifth Olympic medal overall the 30-year-old sports star teamed up with drinks company Malibu, and charity the Royal Life Saving Society UK, listing his eye-catching swimwear on eBay earlier this month.

The red swim shorts are emblazoned with the words 'Don't drink and dive' across the back in bold white letters, and feature a Malibu-branded label-to highlight the dangers of alcohol consumption near water.

And fans of the now-retired diver rushed to eBay to bid on the swimwear, sparking a bidding war with a total of 112 bids placed before the impressive final sum was raised.
