EVEN just eight games into the 2023/24 Championship campaign the £1 million transfer fee that Plymouth Argyle paid for Morgan Whittaker in July looks like a bargain.
It is also a very sound investment too because surely the valuation of the talented attacker is only going to go up.
Given how well Whittaker has performed for the Pilgrims, both on loan from Swansea City over the first half of last season and now at the start of this term, it is hard to understand he made just five Championship starts for the South Wales side.
There must have been reasons for that and you have to assume one of them was that Whittaker did not fit into the playing style of Swansea boss Russell Martin. Fair enough, that happens all the time in football.
