IT is definitely feeling wintry all of a sudden, and this oil painting from The Box's permanent art collections captures the feel of winter perfectly.
The city acquired it in 1905. It is called 'Winter - Roseworthy Valley, Camborne, and it was painted by Samuel John 'Lamorna' Birch RA (1869-1955).
Birch was born into a large family in Egremont, historically part of Cheshire, but today classed as part of the Wirral, Merseyside. He was one of the second generation of artists who moved to Cornwall in the late 1800s, attracted to the county because of its light and landscapes.
