New BJP chief likely by Feb, caste may hold key
The New Indian Express Coimbatore|December 27, 2024
THE BJP is preparing to initiate the process for electing a new party president after January 14, marking the end of the Hindu calendar's inauspicious period, Kharmas.
RAJESH KUMAR THAKUR @ New Delhi

Sources within the BJP said the selection process is likely to focus on appointing a leader who embodies inclusivity.

"The position may go to a woman from an Other Backward Class (OBC) community, or a senior Scheduled Caste (SC) leader, reflecting the party's broader political strategy to consolidate support among these key demographics," a party leader said.

The BJP is focusing on its ongoing internal organisation elections, ultimately culminating in the appointment of a new party leader by the end of February next year.
