A FEMALE student of Kozhikode Medical College Hospital narrowly escaped a kidnapping attempt by a group on Wednesday, in an incident that has sparked panic among medicos and prompted calls for stricter measures to ensure their safety.

Abduction bid on female student of Kozhikode MCH sparks panic

The incident took place late at night, when the student, after completing her duty, was walking from the emergency department in the PMSSY block to the New PG Hostel. A group approached her in a car, threatened her and tried to coerce her into entering the vehicle. However, the student, displaying remarkable courage, ran towards the nearest hostel and escaped the alleged kidnappers.

Expressing concern over the incident, many medicos said they had been repeatedly voicing their complaints regarding the inadequate security infrastructure on the campus, but to no avail.
