Kalolsavam stages, known famously as much for tight competition, judging flaws, and grievances as for their rich talent display, also have a very unique side to it, as could be seen from the festival's pick especially for the classical dance performances.
Creative compositions, based on off-beat characters of mythology as against the normal, flamboyant ones, are being presented, paving the way for the Kalolsavam stages to be platforms of exploration.
Pathos and emotive richness of the off-beat characters, that lie buried or ignored in ancient texts, are lifted and made into beautiful poetry, which then is composed in classical dance style, giving enough room for the contestant to display their grip on the 'navarasas'.
