The RTI response from the Tiruchy airport authorities also revealed the municipal corporation was not paid a single penny over the years for removing the garbage.
The reply also confirmed the airport has violated the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016 (SWM 2016). Highly placed sources said the Tiruchy corporation lost about ₹7 crore due to this (from 2017 onwards).
