Nobel face to heal riot-torn nation

NOBEL laureate Muhammad Yunus will lead the interim government of Bangladesh as chief advisor. The decision was taken at a late-night meeting between the key coordinators of the students movement and Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin. The chiefs of three armed forces and two Dhaka University professors were also present at the meeting held at Bangabhaban (presidential palace) to discuss the current situation and the shape of the interim government.

Earlier in the day, Shahabuddin dissolved Parliament paving the way for an interim government to be formed. The name of Yunus, 84, who is currently in Paris, was proposed by the students.
