U'khand orders probe into gangster don's religious initiation in Almora jail

THE Uttarakhand government on Sunday ordered a probe into the recent anointment of gangster Prakash Pandey, alias PP, as a saint in Almora jail by some members of the Shri Panchdashnam Juna Akhara based in Haridwar.

PP (52), a former associate of underworld don Chhota Rajan, is currently serving a life sentence in the jail for multiple crimes, including killing senior Delhi Police officer Rajbir Singh in 2008.

According to a government statement, Special Secretary Riddhim Aggarwal has appointed Yashwant Chauhan, additional inspector general, prison administration and reform services, as the investigating officer.
