Doppler Radar installation work at Sambalpur

The Doppler Radar centre of Sambalpur will share important meteorological information to the State disaster management department.

It will gather information near around 250 kilometers radius in western Odisha, said Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari here on Sunday.

The information and alerts will help assess natural calamities and enhance preparedness of the government and the people, he noted.

Inaugurating the installation work of the Doppler Radar at Jogi Pali village near Sambalpur town, Minister Pujari said, Odisha is one of the disaster affected states. The Union government has prioritized preparedness to combat any disaster.

Therefore the central government had proposed to install Doppler Radar in Sambalpur but the BJD government did not act on the proposal. No action taken for more than 10 years, he alleged.
