The Congress on Sunday finally extended its support to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) against the Centre’s ordinance giving control of administrative services under the government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi back to the Delhi lieutenant governor. Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said the party’s stand on the issue of the ordinance is ‘very clear’ and it is going to oppose it in Parliament.
Mr Venugopal, who was speaking to a news agency. said: “Congress will oppose all moves by the Centre to disturb the federal structure through Governors and L-Gs, including Delhi Ordinance in Parliament.”
Mr Venugopal's remarks came a day before the crucial second meeting of 24 opposition parties in Karnataka’s Bengaluru on 17 and 18 July, which will be also attended by Congress Parliamentary Party chairman Sonia Gandhi.
