Old-school charm in Triumph's new mid-class Scrambler

Motorcycle manufacturers usually like to make you pay for accessories, but the Triumph Scrambler 400 X comes packed with just about everything you will need to create a cool ride.

The neoclassical 398cc 400 X, the smallest capacity motorcycle in the Triumph stable, comes standard with a headlamp grille, plastic handlebar guards, fuel tank knee pads, radiator protector and upper crash bars.

Given the sky-high motorcycle certificate of entitlement (COE) prices—$9,589 at the latest tender exercise that closed on Oct 23—not having to spend more on accessories is definitely welcome.

The 400 X has a price tag of $15,000 without COE.

Despite its small 38hp, single-cylinder engine, the 400 X guarantees classic Triumph styling and riding feel.

The riding position is upright with your hands resting easily on the tall handlebars. With my height at 1.78m, both my feet rest firmly on the tarmac when the 400 X is stationary.
