J'khand House nod to bill hiking jobs quota to 77%

Jharkhand assembly on Friday passed two key bills — one to define locals based on 1932 land survey records and another to raise quotas for government jobs from 60% to 77%, including a jump in reservations for OBCs from 14% to 27%. The two bills are long-standing demands of the state’s residents.

BJP, however, termed the passing of the bills as a tactic to distract the people from the ED and I-T investigations against the “corrupt” leaders of the state; its NDA partner, Ajsu-P, said the bills were a political ploy of the coalition government.
