Survival in IIT is not always easy. Right from the ti-me you set foot inside one of these institutes, different kinds of pressures trigger to compete with a pool of toppers, secure high grades, prove yourself and ultimately placements. I was no exception to that rule.
When I joined IIT for B Tech+M Tech integrated course in 2011, more than half of the students comprised from the two Telugu states. But, even though the community was well-represented in the student council, we often felt discriminated because of where we came from. At times our language did not give us the edge to network and sometimes the fact that most of us were from the same chain of coaching institutes.
