Curtains fell on one of the most glorious chapters in Telugu cinema with the passing away of Krishna Ghattamaneni. The actor, who was put on ventilator support after suffering a cardiac arrest on Monday, breathed his last at 4:09 am on Tuesday, following a multiorgan failure and severe hypoxic brain injury.
He was 79. A pall of gloom descended over Tollywood as celebs and fans alike began to mourn the loss of Telugu cinema’s original ‘Superstar’ — a moniker the star held for nearly six decades.

Born to Ghattamaneni Raghavaiah Chowdary and Nagaratnamma in 1944 in a small village called Burripalem, Guntur, Krishna was always drawn to acting. He honed his acting skills in local theatre before making it to the silver screen. The journey wasn’t an easy one, though.
