Young dog parents are finding ways to combine puppy love with wanderlust

From Khardung La to Goa, they take their pets everywhere

For most pet parents, going on a long road trip means finding a shelter for their cat or dog, but some take their pets along to not only avoid the pain of separation but also give the animals a chance to see new places.

Sudhin alias Sudheesh KT, a Zomato delivery staff from Kochi, is one of them. He had found Snowbell by chance amid his busy food delivery schedule during the Covid crisis in 2020. “I didn’t have the heart to leave the puppy running on the road, and the thought of its being run over on the highway bothered me,” recalls the 28-year-old. He came back to take the white pup home.

Can(ine)-Do Attitude 

Sudhin – a father of one – had reined in his wanderlust due to financial constraints, but after saving up for two years he convinced his wife to let him do a bike trip from Kochi to Leh. The only thing stopping him was Snowbell.

In April this year, he was surfing the internet in bed when he “came across a video about an American riding with his pet dog on a motorcycle”. Sudhin soon got his welder friend to build a carrier for Snowbell to ride pillion on his 100cc motorcycle.
