Patna: Taking a cue from Jharkhand’s recent decision to raise quotas for the SCs, STs and backward classes to 77% from 60%, Bihar’s governing alliance partners CPI-ML and Hindustani Awam Morcha-Secular (HAM-S) on Sunday called for a similar increase in reservations.

The CPI-ML and former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi-led HAM-S —part of the seven-party Grand Alliance —urged CM Nitish Kumar to bring legislation in the winter session of the assembly starting November 23 for a quota hike from the current 60%.
