Adani Transmission seeks to supply more power in MMR

This is an attempt by ATL to venture into new territories across MMR and give competition to the state-run power utility, MSEDCL (formerly MSEB), which has been distributing electricity in these areas for over six decades.

ATL's new subsidiary, Adani Electricity Navi Mumbai Ltd (AENML), recently filed an application before Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) for grant of a distribution licence in the newly identified areas. The application was admitted by MERC on Friday. It plans to cater to over 5 lakh new consumers in five years. At present, Adani Electricity caters to 31 lakh consumers in Mumbai suburbs.
