Mumbai: The rush is expected to increase from Monday onwards, with fears of long serpentine traffic snarls on the Mumbai-Goa route and which could affect other motorists as well.
“But there is so much excitement to go to our village,” said a reveller getting into a bus from Bhandup. Families travel with their relatives and friends, book entire buses or team up with those from their own native towns to travel together to Konkan. Many of them are those who relocated to the city several decades ago in search of livelihood and this year, over 1.5 lakh are travelling by 3,400 state transport buses to coastal Konkan.
