Mumbai: The Bombay high court-appointed the court receiver to take possession of a 300-sq-ft flat in a redeveloped high-rise to be handed over to a 97-year-old woman after Mhada said that it has no objection to giving her the flat.
Kamlabai Khamkar had moved the Bombay high court to direct Mhada to deliver possession of the flat on the 12th floor of Green Field.
Kamlabai was a tenant in Ghamji Bhimji Wani Chawl, Huk Mill Lane. The chawl was purchased by M/s Rupji Constructions, a father-son partnership firm, who took up its redevelopment. In 2009, Kamlabai was held as an eligible occupant.
In July 2010, the developer signed an agreement with her for permanent alternative accommodation and to pay rent in lieu of transit accommodation. The chawl was then demolished.
