Brought down by CR, Carnac bridge to be rebuilt by BMC

Mumbai: Carnac bridge, dismantled on Sunday, will be reconstructed by BMC at an estimated cost of Rs 50 crore, with the railways supervising safety on tracks. "The job was done in record time and train services resumed before schedule," said a Central Railway (CR) spokesperson. Because of the megablock on CR's main and harbour lines, massive crowds developed at Dadar, Wadala, Byculla and LTT stations. Several long-distance passenger trains were cancelled or short terminated at Dadar and LTT.
