"The station will be accessible from the Western Express Highway, besides it will be well connected by suburban and Metro lines like Line 7 (Andheri to Dahisar via Highway) and Line 6 (Lokhandwala-Vikhroli), which being an east-west corridor has connectivity with eastern suburbs too,” an official said.
The platform can accommodate up to 24-coach trains. The terminus will have one stabling line.
"We will also be able to introduce new trains by assessing the demand," said WR's chief public relations officer Sumit Thakur.
WR had sent a proposal to the railway board in November 2021 for a Rs 70 crore terminus, sanction for which was received on May 12. At present, Mumbai has six such terminuses three each on WR and CR.
