A 35-year-old man from Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, one of the several people trapped in the Myanmar job racket, told TOI over the phone that their "lives would be in danger if we are not rescued within a week".
The man, who sought anonymity, is being held in one of several detention-like camps in Myanmar. He demanded to know why batches of people from India continued to reach Myanmar despite the illegal job racket being busted. "Last week, a batch of 20 people, including a Muslim girl, reached Myanmar. We are puzzled how the Indian government or Indian embassy permits people to visit Bangkok after the job racket was busted. The news is all over regional, national, and global media but still people continue to come," said the former businessman.
