Legendary fusion group Shakti to reunite, perform in India

As live concerts bounce back from the pandemic, Indo-jazz fusion supergroup Shakti is about to sweep music lovers off their feet in a ‘east-meets-west musical confluence’ at the start of the new year.

Shakti will feature two surviving members of the original line-up — British jazz guitarist John McLaughlin and tabla whiz Zakir Hussain — flanked by kanjira player V Selvaganesh, vocalist Shankar Mahadevan and violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan when they take centre-stage in Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi in January 2023 for what is meant to be their ‘50th Anniversary World Tour’.
