New Delhi: As the Centre on Thursday pleaded that there was no need for judicial interference in the present system of appointment of the chief election commissioner (CEC) and election commissioners (ECs), which is being followed by the government, the Supreme Court asked the Centre on why no step was taken in the past seven decades to bring a law to regulate the appointments as per Article 324(2) of the Constitution.
