Ulta Beauty said Kecia Steelman will succeed David Kimbell as chief executive, as the company aims to reaccelerate its sales amid a global slowdown in the beauty market.

The cosmetics retailer on Monday also increased its fourth-quarter outlook, saying it now expects comparable sales to increase modestly thanks to a stronger-than-expected holiday shopping season. It most recently guided for comparable sales to be down 1% to flat for the full year.

Kimbell, 58 years old, will retire from the top role after 11 years with the company. He is credited with increasing the company's annual revenue to more than $11 billion.
