The work will be carried out in three stages, but will pause for Taylor Swift's six concerts at Rogers Centre in November.

The TTC will replace its streetcars with buses along another busy downtown corridor next month in an area already congested from other transit work.

Starting Sept. 3, the transit agency will be upgrading its streetcar overhead wires and underground power systems on Queens Quay and Fleet Street. The project will span almost three kilometres between the Harbourfront Tunnel and Strachan Avenue, and is expected to take four months, TTC said in a press release Friday.

However, the upgrade work will be put on hold when Taylor Swift makes her six-concert stand at Rogers Centre in the fall.
