Etobicoke charity sends aid to Jamaica

Global Medic also assisting with World Central Kitchen efforts

An Etobicoke-based disaster response charity is stepping up in the wake of hurricane Beryl.

GlobalMedic provided aid to Jamaica by sending more than 1,400 emergency kits to Montego Bay last week and is also installing a water unit in a community kitchen in the city.

“We believe in getting the right aid to the right people at the right time,” Rahul Singh, founder and executive director at GlobalMedic, told the Star.

Last week, Beryl, the earliest Category 5 hurricane in the Atlantic, ravaged through the Caribbean and left at least nine people dead. The storm then travelled through Mexico before hitting parts of southeast Texas over the weekend.
