Andrew Godfrey said he saw a "full funnel."
It was just before noon and after a tornado warning had been issued for Waterloo Region and Godfrey, the company's general manager, was looking through a window at Vincent Motorsports in Ayr when he saw a twister go along the Nith River on Saturday.
Seeing the storm surge, Godfrey gathered employees and kept them huddled together "in case something happened."
One dented boat was seen near a trailer on the back lot, and another was thrown up against a fence at the back of the property by some trees.
While cleaning up debris with his employees, Godfrey said that aside from some damage, the property was unscathed.
The same couldn't be said for other properties in the village.
Damage is in the millions, said North Dumfries Deputy Fire Chief Eric Yates.
