Temperatures hit 12.5 C Tuesday morning in Ottawa, marking the warmest March 5 in the capital city's history.
There appears to be no love lost between Premier Doug Ford's governing Progressive Conservatives and Pierre Poilievre's federal Opposition Conservatives.
Tensions between the two Tory parties, smouldering for months, have flared up in recent weeks.
In his victory speech after Monday's Durham byelection, newly elected federal Conservative Jamil Jivani lashed out against "liberal elites," including those running the show at Queen's Park.
"And when I say 'liberal elites,' I am talking about Justin Trudeau and the Liberal party, but not just them," Jivani, who worked for Ford as an adviser from 2019 until 2022, told supporters.
"I'm also talking about the liberal elites who run big banks and big telecommunications companies driving up the cost of everything," said the former talk-radio host, who was sacked from Bell Media in 2021.
"I am also talking about the liberal elites who run the Ontario Ministry of Education in this province," he thundered after winning a byelection with 57.4 per cent of the vote to 22.5 per cent for the Liberals, 10.4 per cent for the NDP, 4.4 per cent for the People's Party of Canada and 2.2 per cent for the Greens.
Jivani's attack against Tory Education Minister Stephen Lecce's department comes seven weeks after Poilievre blindsided Ford by poaching cabinet minister Parm Gill to run federally in Milton.
