Use localised adjustments for greater control
Precise editing with Masking

Global adjustments can often only get you so far when editing images in Lightroom. By taking advantage of the Masking Tools, you can adopt a more precise approach by targeting specific areas of your image for editing. This allows you to apply only the changes required on an individual basis, rather than following a one size fits all approach and will, ultimately give you better editing results.

1 Basic adjustments

Apply basic adjustments to the image as a whole until it is close to how you would like it to look. Avoid using strong settings because specific areas of the image will be adjusted individually. At this stage, make sure the White Balance is correct and apply Lens Corrections if required.
