ICC T20 WORLD CUP 2024: EXPERIENCED SRI LANKA CAN LAND A FEW PUNCHES

The Sri Lankan cricket team led by Wanindu Hasaranga is pretty much a balanced side with quality batters and bowlers alike. The squad is blended with a lot of experience, and it can prove to be useful during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, to be held in the West Indies and USA. After a disappointing ICC World Cup 2023 in India, the Asian side would hope to make its presence felt in a format which can be receptive to the players to enhance their skills. Sri Lanka’s bowling somehow pips the batting in terms of personnel. Look out for the Lankan Lions with the ball. They can be pretty nagging with the versatility on offer. On a bit slower surfaces, the Lankans can hurt oppositions. And then you would also want the batters to come out and express themselves. The big guns on the side need to be delivered and have a plan.

Sri Lanka have been one-time winners of the ICC T20 World Cup. They won the prized trophy in 2014, beating India in the finale. The Lankans have also been twotime runners-up in 2009 and 2012. They also reached the semis in 2010. The last three editions have seen the Lankans suffer R2 exits. They also suffered an R2 exit in the inaugural season in 2007. SL is placed alongside South Africa, Nepal, Bangladesh and the Netherlands. The Lankans are the favourites, alongside South Africa, to reach the Super 8s.

Here, we analyse the Sri Lanka squad for the T20 World Cup.
