Chris Froome slammed by team boss

Chris Froome’s future at Israel-PremierTech has been thrown into doubt despite having a contract until the end of 2025, after the team’s manager slammed the Briton for not being “value for money.”

In an extraordinary interview with Cycling Weekly at the Tour de France, Israel’s billionaire owner Sylvan Adams said that since Froome joined the team in 2021 he has “absolutely not” been worth his multi-million-euro annual salary.

He added: “Chris isn’t a symbol, he isn’t a PR tool, he’s supposed to be our leader at the Tour de France and he’s not even here, so no I couldn’t say he’s value for money, no.”

Froome raced both the 2021 and 2022 Tour but wasn’t selected for this year’s race after failing to convince his team that he was worthy of selection.
