'I'M NOT LEAVING!' REVEALS MORISON

Jack Payne and Alex Gilbey put the hosts well in front before Stephen Duke-McKenna cut the lead just after the restart.

The sides then took it in turn to score as Emre Tezgel’s strike was cancelled out by Charlie Lakin, only for Ellis Harrison to put the Dons further ahead again.

Duke-McKenna netted again before Harry Smith brought Sutton on level terms at the death, but a failure to win saw Sutton relegated after three seasons in the EFL.

“It was a tough ask, and it’s disappointing we didn’t manage to pull it off. When I came in, the job was to keep the team in the league, and we haven’t done it, so it’s a failure,” said Morison. “It’s a strange feeling, a mix of positive and negative emotions, but I can’t ask any more from those players.

“They’ve given everything they’ve got, putting their bodies on the line. The physical and technical effort over the last ten games has been tremendous.
