BIRMINGHAM defender Cody Drameh has backed young hotshot Jay Stansfield to fire the rejuvenated Blues into the Championship promotion race.
Stansfield, 20, is at St Andrew's on a season-long loan from Fulham and has wasted little time in demonstrating his Premier League quality.
The England Under-20 striker bagged a last-minute winner against Plymouth on his debut late last month and had since scored against Millwall and Preston to make it three goals in four league outings pre-weekend.
Coming off the back of an impressive season-long loan at Exeter, his performances offer further proof that a top-flight career beckons.
But Drameh, who is on loan at the Blues from Leeds, isn't surprised after spending his formative years watching Stansfield, son of the late Adam, rip up the junior ranks.
"I've known Jay for three or four years so I know how good he is," said Drameh. "I was in the academy with him at Fulham for a year before I joined Leeds and it was amazing how fast he progressed.
