Great Wakering Rovers are in the thick of a title race in the Essex Senior League but there was still time for a light-hearted approach to training on Tuesday.
Wakering boss Marcus Bowers has an annual tradition where his players turn up in their Christmas costumes.
And while they worked as hard as ever, Bowers - whose side reached the FA Vase final last season - is convinced it helps bonding.
"It shows you can lighten the mood," he told The Southend Echo. "The spirit in the side is top drawer." Elsewhere, others have been spreading Christmas cheer in their local communities.
