Morrison – the former Crystal Palace and Birmingham City striker, now top pundit – returned to one of his old haunts, Raynes Park Vale, on Tuesday to discuss the funding the club has received this year to improve the facilities at its Grand Avenue home.
The Isthmian South Central club were awarded a £155,000 grant from the Premier League for new LED floodlights, plus turnstiles, changing rooms, toilets, catering facilities and barriers.
Since 2000, the Premier League Stadium Fund has invested more than £200m into improving the stadiums of more than a thousand men’s and women’s clubs.
And Morrison, who grew up in nearby Tooting, admitted he was amazed at the transformation of the club, while hailing the Premier League for their continued support at grass roots level, which often goes unnoticed.
“The facilities here are unbelievable,” the 45-year-old told The NLP.
