Approximately 21.2 gigatons of carbon dioxide are anticipated to be released into the atmosphere between 2021 and 2050, according to IATA estimations of the demand for air travel. This makes it exceptionally necessary to bring a change and reduce this kind of emission.
By committing to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 with the help of accelerated efficiency measures, an energy transition and innovation across the aviation sector, as well as in collaboration with governments worldwide, the global aviation industry went beyond its initial climate commitment in October 2021.
By adopting a comparable objective during the 41st Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization in October 2022, governments further demonstrated their support for net zero carbon emissions in aviation by the year 2050.
But improving the sustainability of air travel takes work. Lifting people and objects into the air and transporting them over great distances requires a lot of energy. There are various ways that airlines are attempting to lower their emissions. The most frequent one is transitioning from conventional jet fuels manufactured from fossil fuels to those made from renewable sources and with reduced production emissions. In order to make planes lighter, more aerodynamic and more durable against wear and tear, airlines are also looking to improvise materials and coating technologies. Some airlines, like United Airlines, believe they can achieve carbon neutrality and bring back supersonic travel simultaneously.

This article explores the potential strategies to boost operational effectiveness, boost productivity, and provide a positive customer experience in order to make airlines more sustainable.
