10 brilliant uses for ICE CUBES

1 De-wrinkle delicate garments

You packed your favorite silky sundress to wear to your niece's wedding, but it got wrinkled en route and you forgot to pack your steamer. Try this: Wrap an ice cube in a soft cloth and run it over any creases. Then use a hair dryer held at least 3 inches away to blow on the area. The ice will leave moisture that the dryer's hot air can turn into steam and smooth creases.

2 Remove stuck-on candle wax

Eek! The candles you lit for your dinner party created beautiful ambience too bad their wax dripped all over your tablecloth. The save: Rub an ice cube over the spots repeatedly. The ice will quickly freeze and harden the wax, which you can then lift off of the fabric with a butter knife.

3 Revive a garbage disposal

Lately your garbage disposal doesn't seem to be working as well as it used to. The likely culprit? Food-particle buildup on the blades of the disposal. What can help get things moving again: Run a few ice cubes through the disposal once a week. The ice will knock stuck-on food debris off of the blades without damaging them, so the appliance works like new.

4 Soothe a dog's sore gums
