Fifteen months after revealing her heartbreaking diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, Christina Applegate bravely reintroduced herself to the world last month.
Ahead of the premiere of the third and fi nal season of her hit show Dead to Me, the actress delighted fans by attending her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.
There, Christina, 51, broke down in tears on the podium as she acknowledged her 11-year-old daughter Sadie, saying, “The most important person in this world is my daughter. You are so much more than even you know. You are so beautiful and kind, and smart and interesting. I’m blessed every day that I get to wake up and take you to school. Thank you for standing by me through all of this…”
Days later, the star spoke candidly about the difficulties she has experienced since the degenerative condition took hold and her concerns about her changed appearance.
“This is the first time anyone’s going to see me the way I am,” she shared on the eve of the release of the series.
“I put on 40 pounds [18 kilograms]. I can’t walk without a cane. I want people to know that I am very aware of that.”
In Dead to Me, Christina plays widow Jen Harding, who befriends free-spirited Judy Hale (played by Linda Cardellini) at a grief support group. Their friendship is not what it seems, and becomes comically complicated by lies, secrets and an accidental murder.
