These pout perfectors will ensure your lip shade goes the distance

Lip liner can have an air of mystery around it. We're all aware that it can be used to line your lips. But beyond that, do you really need yet another lip product? Well, when used correctly, lip liner can play an integral role in your make-up routine - especially when it comes to helping your lipstick go the distance.

Some find them a little intimidating, but when you know how to wield one well, it can be a true make-up game-changer.

PREP WITH A GOOD LIP BALM

When it comes to applying liner, always start with a layer of hydrating lip balm. This beauty essential will help your lip liner - and later, your lipstick - glide on smoothly. Give it a few minutes to sink in before adding your colour, though, and if it still feels a little greasy, blot gently with a tissue.

SKIP THE SUPER-SHARP PENCILS

You may be used to sharpening your eyeliner to achieve the perfect sleek wing or thin line, but this practice doesn't translate quite as well when it comes to your lips. Allowing your lip liner to keep the dull point that forms through regular use can help it blend more easily onto your lips for a seamless look.
