Louise and Sean added an extension and changed the layout to create a house that works for them and a place to display their vintage finds and artwork

LIGHT & BRIGHT

‘The extension means the kitchen is more social and connected to the dining area. It suits us much better’

IDEA TO STEAL

Panel a wall part way to give you a ledge on which to showcase pictures'

STACK UP

‘We had shelves made from walnut timber to help the space feel more open’

COME ON IN!

ABOUT ME I’m Louise Potter, 59, an interior designer, and I live here with my husband, Sean, 54, our daughter Martha, 21, and Elvis the Jack Russell.

MY HOME A four-bedroom Victorian terraced house in Liverpool, which we moved into in August 2011.

WHEN WE MOVED IN The previous owners had completely renovated it, but it wasn’t to my taste.

AND NOW The whole layout works so much better for us and it feels like our own home now that we’ve put our personal stamp on it.

STYLE TIP

Take your time and only have things in your home that you love, rather than following a trend.

People say that you just know when a house is the right one for you as soon as you walk in – and that was definitely the case for us when we went to view our Victorian four-bedroom property,’ says Louise.
