It was a Christmas gift to remember

I CAN'T believe that in a few weeks' time it will be Christmas. I don't have any presents sorted and I'm behind on my cards.

There's just been too much going on.

The village pub is looking like Santa's grotto, which is exactly as it should be, and the church Christmas tree supplied each year by Mrs Reid and Kid Curry looks splendid next to the organ.

Around Lush Places there are twinkly lights everywhere, with trees over the doors of houses in the village square.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

A few years ago I decided to buy Number One Granddaughter a ticket to see a matinee showing of "Return Of The Jedi" at the Royal Albert Hall, with John Williams's wonderful score performed by London Symphony Orchestra.

It would be a gift for her to remember.

I booked the tickets in 2019 after seeing the previous films, "A New Hope" and "The Empire Strikes Back", at the famous London venue with Number One Son.

We were due to see "Return Of The Jedi" in October 2020 but then the pandemic happened.
