It's been dubbed a 'miracle' drug for weight loss and is thought to be behind the slimmed-down physiques of an increasing number of celebrities. But as Ozempic takes over Hollywood, the controversial jab has split opinions.
Ozempic - which is intended to manage type 2 diabetes - contains the active ingredient semaglutide, which decreases blood sugar levels by helping the pancreas create more insulin. While it's become popular due to the fact it curbs appetite and contributes to feelings of fullness, Ozempic is not (yet) prescribed for weight loss in the UK.
Here, Sharon Osbourne argues why people should think twice before using it, while daughter Kelly says she doesn't see anything wrong with it...
SHARON 1 FEAR FOR TEENAGERS'
Sharon, 71, has been open about how Ozempic has aided her weight loss. The Celebrity Big Brother star lost 3st after she started on the drug in November 2022, admitting that 'everybody was doing it'. She said, 'It's advertised on TV in the US and claims 15lb weight loss, so doctors started prescribing it to their overweight patients. I was 142lb [10st 2lb] when I started using it. I've always been anything up to 40 or 50lb overweight. I'd lose it and then put it back on within two months and the going back and forth was frustrating.'
