Save £100s on your SUMMER HOLIDAY

Going on holiday isn’t cheap, and this year in particular holiday-makers can expect to feel the pinch. This is because prices for a getaway have shot up by as much as 71%* over the past 12 months.

So, if you’re planning a break this year, you’ll have to think about tightening your belt – but don’t let that ruin the fun. With some careful planning and thrifty tips, you can make that budget go further. Here, I share my advice to help you save money on your next holiday.

Cheap flights

If you’re not too fussed about which day of the week you fly, then consider a mid-week outbound and inbound flight. You could save as much as 60% on short-haul flights and around 30%** on long-haul flights if you travel on a Wednesday instead of the weekend. And if you really want to make sure you’re not paying more than you have to, you can also use these tools to secure the cheapest flights:

KAYAK (kayak.co.uk) – enables you to compare the overall cost of your flights.

MOMONDO (momondo.co.uk) – gives you travel insights, such as the cheapest time of year to fly to your destination.

SKYSCANNER (skyscanner.net) – easily compare flight prices and set up price alerts should the price subsequently drop.

FLY.COM – enables you to view the best fares each day, together with the cheapest dates to fly.

HOPPER (hopper.com) – the app predicts future airfares, so that you can plan ahead.
