Standing at the school gates, golden leaves crunched beneath my feet as the autumn sun beamed down. ‘Lovely weather today,’ I said to another mum. She smiled and nodded, and I found myself wondering if she knew my secret.
By day, I was just like any other mum – with four children, Tove, 14, Vigo, 12, Zevi, nine, and Ludo, seven, my life revolved around pick-ups and drop-offs, homework and preparing dinner. But once the kids were asleep I’d take on a different role as a white witch, fitting casting spells and reading tarots around family life.
I’d been a pagan for 20 years, after finding a witchcraft book in a charity shop. As I read about paganism, respecting all living things and using magical power for good, it really struck a chord with me.
