REEVA STEENKAMP TRAGEDY 'BARRY DIED OF A BROKEN HEART'

Brave June Steenkamp reflects on her husband's passing and how he fought for his daughter until the end

Barry Steenkamp never stopped grieving for his precious daughter Reeva, who, at 29, was brutally murdered in cold blood. She was fatally shot dead by South African double-amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius through a closed toilet cubicle door in the pre-dawn hours of Valentine's Day 2013.

With the sad news that the 80-year-old had died in his sleep on September 14, Reeva's mum June shares exclusively with Woman's Day that the family's much-loved patriarch had their daughter in his thoughts until his last moments.

"I think he died of a broken heart," she tells us from her home in South Africa. "He desperately wanted the truth before he died, of what really happened. Reeva's last moments haunted him. Haunted us."

After suffering two strokes during the murder trial of his only daughter, who at the time of the shooting was a successful model and law graduate, Barry never found closure.
