In his hit series Yellowstone, Kevin Costner's character has a complicated relationship with his kids - and in his private life, it's no different.

After his seemingly solid marriage to his first wife, college sweetheart Cindy Silva, ended in 1994 after 16 years and three children, reportedly due to his wandering eye, the actor began to play the field.

"Marriage is a hard, hard gig," he complained at the time, with rumours circulating he'd had affairs with Hollywood actresses.

In 1996, Kevin, now 67, welcomed son Liam Costner, the result of a fling with Pittsburgh Steelers heiress Bridget Rooney, but refused to accept the boy was his until a DNA test proved it. Kevin - who went on to marry Cindy Baumgartner and have three more children - is said to have established a trust for Liam, who is now 26 and a Florida realtor.

Despite that, insiders reveal the pair don't share a close relationship, noting that Liam has opted to use his mother's surname.
