Watching her children surface above the clouds while on a breathtaking hot-air balloon ride, Edith Lemay can’t help but get teary.
It’s been a tough journey to happiness for the family of six after they discovered three of the children su er from a rare genetic condition that will cause them to slowly become blind.
But sitting in the basket of a balloon as the sun rises over Turkey, the Canadian family has never been more grateful.
“Leo looked at me and said, ‘Mummy, this is just like your dream,’ and that’s how it felt because it was so magical,” Edith, 44, tells Woman’s Day.
“It’s a memory we will treasure forever.”
Edith and her husband Sebastien Pelletier, 45, decided to take their four children on the trip of a lifetime after learning about their incurable condition.
Their eldest child Mia was just three years old when she started having vision problems. Doctors passed o her condition as a developmental issue, however, Edith knew something was wrong and asked for specialist tests.
